Commercial Contracts Manager

  • Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 pa, DOE
  • Location: East Midlands
  • Working Pattern: Remote (Nottingham office as required, estimated 1-2 days per week)

The Opportunity:

This is a senior and highly visible role, responsible for overseeing commercial contract negotiation, proactive management of the customer contract base and lifecycle management of all customer contracts maximising retention and renewals, alongside supporting supplier management with complex supplier and vendor agreements where escalation or negotiation is required.

Working closely with Sales, Finance, and Delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring contracts are commercially robust, aligned with business strategy and risks are managed - helping to optimise R&O, enable sustainable growth and deliver operational excellence.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Contract Negotiation:

  • Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of customer contracts for IT service and product supply, ensuring commercial terms are balanced, deliverable, and aligned with business strategy.
  • Evaluate and present contractual risks, dependencies, and delivery implications to senior stakeholders.
  • Understand, evaluate and remediate financial impact of contracted rebate requests.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex supplier or vendor contracts, stepping in to negotiate where commercial or legal complexities arise.
  • Ensure all contract documentation reflects agreed commercial positions and is compliant with internal governance standards.

Commercial Governance & Risk Management:

  • Serve as the custodian and gatekeeper for all commercial contracts.
  • Maintain and enforce the organisation’s delegation of authority framework, ensuring contractual commitments are authorised appropriately.
  • Proactively identify and document contractual risks, liabilities, and thresholds, providing mitigation strategies where needed.
  • Build and maintain a database of boilerplate contractual clauses to assist the wider business and drive operational efficiency.
  • Support and advise on ISO compliance and GDPR/data protection matters related to customer and supplier contracts.

Opportunity Support:

  • Partner with Sales and Bid teams to review proposed commercial terms, validate contractual commitments, and ensure alignment with company policies.
  • Provide risk commentary and contractual guidance during RFP responses and bid submissions.
  • Analyse new opportunities and contracts to assess commercial risk and potential liabilities.
  • Support the development of commercially sound deal structures that balance customer requirements with operational capability.

Contract Lifecycle Management:

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end contract lifecycle for all customer agreements — including onboarding, renewals, variations, and terminations, partnering with Sales, Delivery and Commercial teams to drive customer refresh and renewal rates.
  • Maintain and manage the internal contracts repository/database, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accessibility.
  • Work closely with Finance to align billing, delivery milestones, and payment terms with contractual obligations.
  • Continuously review and enhance standard contract templates, processes, and governance frameworks to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Adopt and drive a continuous improvement approach to minimise revenue leakage and ensure that all supply chain and external changes are proactively and appropriated managed through the contract database.
  • Oversee all contract change requests.

Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in Commercial Contract Management, ideally within a technology, SaaS, Facilities Management, or professional services environment.
  • Excellent drafting, reviewing, and negotiating abilities.
  • Customer contracts for Managed IT Services, framework agreements, and MSAs.
  • Proven ability negotiating of complex supplier and vendor contracts, particularly where terms deviate from standard frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of contract law, commercial risk management, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with Sales and Bid teams, providing commercial insight and contractual support through the deal cycle.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, data protection, and ISO compliance (especially within the public sector or regulated environments).
  • Financially astute, able to analyse profitability, risk exposure, and delivery feasibility.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively at senior levels.
