Head of Strategic Marketing

This is a highly strategic, commercial, and data-driven marketing role sat within the Strategy team, focused on shaping the business’s market positioning, vendor propositions, and new customer engagement strategies. This position does not involve campaign execution or creative marketing; instead, it will provide the insights, strategy, and direction for both the Sales and Internal Marketing teams.

  • Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 pa, DOE
  • Location: Nottingham / London
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid (2-3 days from home)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Market, Intelligence & Insights:

  • Continuously conduct market, competitor, and audience analysis.
  • Research and maintain documentation on core buyer personas across key verticals.
  • Segment the customer base using behavioural, firmographic, and opportunity indicators, and score using propensity modelling/qualification criteria.
  • Develop measurement frameworks, KPIs, and reporting to quantify the impact of strategies.
  • Analyse market size, accessibility, trends, and pressures to identify strategic growth opportunities across key verticals.
  • Evaluate the company’s brand positioning and identity, defining positioning and differentiators within the market.

Commercial Strategies & Sales Enablement:

  • In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, develop data-led, commercially focused, and intelligence-driven GTM strategies, aimed at increasing market share and revenue growth.
  • Work closely with Sales leaders during the implementation of integrated GTM strategies.
  • Conceptualise and deliver sales enablement programs, ensuring alignment with commercial goals, providing messaging and positioning frameworks, core value propositions, sales enablement tools, and KPIs.
  • Work in partnership with the internal Marketing team to enable effective execution of marketing campaigns.

Product, Market & Vendor Strategy:

  • Analyse emerging technologies, topics, and market trends to ensure the business remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Collaborate with Sales teams to gather feedback, identify new service/product opportunities, challenge assumptions, and influence strategy.
  • Identify potential new partners, suppliers, vendors, and customer segments to target for strategic growth.
  • Conduct customer focus groups and research to evaluate appetite and feasibility for new vendors, services, or offerings.
  • Analyse vendor/partner strategies, goals, and messaging to align them with the business strategy.
  • Shape the vendor narrative to drive market share while adhering to their guidelines.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience within a Strategic Marketing Leader / Head of Strategic Marketing / Insight & Demand Generation leadership role or similar is essential
  • Previous experience focussed on data / commercial analysis / business intelligence is essential.
  • Previous experience working within the Senior Leadership team and leading, coaching, and managing a team.
  • Experience within the channel - technology sector (IT Reseller, VAR, IT Managed Services Provider, Vendor, etc.)
  • Excellent data analysis & market intelligence skills, capable of translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent strategic thinking & influencing skills, with the ability to shape business priorities and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working closely with Sales teams.
  • Comfortable with balancing longer-term initiatives alongside evolving immediate business requirements, prioritising tasks based on commercial outcomes/ROI.
