Construction Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor

We are searching for a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial experience in a range of construction infrastructure projects and solid understanding of NEC/JCT contracts to join a construction consultancy based in Leeds City Centre.

Key Skills:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • RICS or MRICS accredited or commitment to achieving.
  • Between 1- and 5-years post-graduate experience.
  • Understanding of construction projects, preferably infrastructure experience (roads, cycle highways, bridges, etc).
  • Strong NEC and JCT contract experience and understanding.
  • Ability to deliver on multiple projects and manage a changing workload.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: ability to develop and maintain long-standing relationships.
  • A keen interest in further developing and progressing your career.
  • Must be a UK Resident residing within the local area.
  • Please note we cannot offer visa sponsorship for overseas candidates.

The Role

  • In this role, you will initially work on smaller projects of up to £5mil value. These will predominately be infrastructure projects consisting of roads, cycle highways, flood alleviation and bridges. You will be accountable for the commercial and cost management of these projects and will develop strong relationships with all parties involved. Overtime, you will be given the opportunity to work on larger projects of higher value.
  • In return, you will be given expert guidance and development, encouragement to further your knowledge, support on gaining further qualifications and accreditations, and the opportunity to progress within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting on, and managing projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget and to the highest of standards.
  • Establishing client requirements, advising on procurement, and undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs and delivering achievable project timeframes.
  • Preparing and analysing project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour, and time.
  • Preparing tender and contract documents, provide expert pre- and post-contract support.
  • Providing cost analysis, advice, and reports to clients, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.

This is an established consultancy who have successfully delivered a variety of projects, from £1m up to £150 million. They provide Commercial & Cost Management, Programme & Project Management, Strategic & Advisory services to a multitude of sectors, including infrastructure, retail, residential and leisure. Due to their vast industry knowledge and experience, alongside their commitment to building long-standing relationships, this business has recently secured impressive framework wins, and as a result are searching for Quantity Surveyors/Cost Managers to join their team.
