The Role
We're searching for an experienced and process-driven Technical Product Manager to oversee product compliance and technical operations. This role will take responsibility for managing a team of Technologists while improving and streamlining product compliance processes across the board. Working closely with the Technical Manager and company leadership, you will play a critical role in safeguarding product integrity, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring that products meet both legal and customer requirements.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compliance-focused professional with leadership experience who is ready to take full accountability for technical strategy, reporting, and performance review within a fast-growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Technologists, ensuring performance, development, and alignment with business goals.
  • Take overall responsibility for product compliance across all categories, including toys, packaging, hardware, electronics, and food-related items.
  • Continuously assess and enhance current ways of working, identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of consultants, laboratory service providers, and other technical resources.
  • Act as a point of contact for high-level customer queries and concerns related to compliance and technical issues.
  • Review product data, testing results, and performance metrics, ensuring accurate reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Support the Technical Manager and wider leadership team with compliance strategy and risk management.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in a senior technical or compliance role, ideally within the toy, packaging, or food industry.
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory standards (e.g., food safety, toy regulations, labelling, and packaging).
  • Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and improve operational and compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with third-party testing, laboratory services, and cost evaluations.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with compliance-related customer queries.
  • Data-literate with experience in compliance documentation, product risk analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP and BRC standards preferred.

The Candidate
This role would suit a capable and confident professional with a proven background in technical compliance, ideally within the toy, packaging, or broader FMCG sector. You'll have experience managing teams, working with third-party labs and consultants, and handling complex regulatory requirements. A solutions-driven mindset, coupled with excellent analytical and leadership skills, is key to success in this role.
